Dazzling, spectacular, mind blowing, amazing and absolutely thrilling are just some of the adjectives used to describe The Dark Knight. On release day of this spectacularly popular movie, avid fans lined up all over the country to watch the first viewings. The movie did not disappoint.
Synopsis: Christian Bale aka Bruce Wayne is tired of being batman. He’s waited too long for the day when he can finally lay his mask down and have Gotham City protect its own safety.
Along comes Harvey Dent, the new district attorney. Within just weeks of his arrival, he hatches a plan to lock up half of Gotham’s criminals for months. Dent and Wayne hit it off immediately, and so begins a strange friendship between the city’s underground vigilante and the city’s number 1 public hero.
Much like previous batman movies, the movie revolves around an epic battle between Batman and the ‘Villain’, in this case the Joker.
Public Opinions: The Dark Knight is one of the few movies that seemed to garner nearly unanimous approval from the public.
The movie achieved a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviews on movie review websites everywhere all generally pointed to the Dark Knight being one of the top movies of the year back in 2008.
Even movie critics loved the movie:
‘This film is not only one of the year’s best; it may well end up as the finest of 2008′, says Stephen Hunter of the Washington Post.
‘One of the two best mainstream films to be released all year’. Mick LaSelle, San Francisco Chronicle.
‘Watching The Dark Knight is like gazing into a mirror on a waning moon night: chilling and mesmerizing’. Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal.
The Dark Knight: The Dark Knight is an epic, thrilling tale with many twists and unexpected turns. The characters are well thought out and well portrayed. The action sequences are creative and suspenseful, yet the movie has a depth that few other action movies have.
The psychologies of Harvey Dent, Bruce Wayne and the Joker are well thought out. Unlike most action movies where the bad guy is simply ‘the bad guy’, in The Dark Knight all the characters have backgrounds that really make sense.
For movie goers everywhere, The Dark Knight is simply a must see. Many agree that if you could only rent out one action movie, The Dark Knight should be near the top of your list. It’s a thrilling action film, a touching love story, a story of depth and the strength of the human will all tied into one cohesive storyline. It just doesn’t get any better than this.
