Overview: Sex and the City: The movie was overall done pretty well. The cast was well developed and flushed out and would be a great watch for both Sex and the City fans and newbies alike.
Synopsis: Watching the movie was somewhat like watching an extended version of the TV show. However, unlike the 40 minute TV shows (an hour with commercial breaks), the movie was two and a half hours long.
Sex and the City does a great job of developing all four of the main characters. The main focus of the film (and the TV show) is all about Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda trying to find love, fulfillment and sometimes just plain sex.
Sex and the city is both a romantic film and a comedy wrapped up into one. The humour comes mostly from the witty and sometimes slightly weird characters that make up the movie.
Samantha in particular was hilarious in this movie. She played the role of the ‘sex starved’ woman and many laughs ensue as she tries to find her way to love and sex in the movie.
Overall the film was a great watch. There’s a thirty minute period in the middle of the film that was less than entertaining, however as a whole the film was great to watch.
On the other hand, the film was simply far too long. The wittiness, humour and quirky characters only go so far and after a period of time it tends to get old. Perhaps if the film were an hour and a half it would have been perfect. However, when a film like this is stretched out to a full two hours and thirty minutes, it’s simply overkill.
The Movie Review – Overall: Overall Sex and the City: The Movie was a decent watch. If you’re a Sex and the City fan, the film is definitely a must see.
For the rest of us, Sex and the City: The Movie is a good watch if you’re in the mood for a satisfying romantic comedy. Unfortunately the film does go over the top in terms of it’s play time and can get boring after a period of time.
Unlike most films, you can enjoy Sex and the City: The Movie without actually having to pay full attention. It’s a great film to have in the background as you do your laundry or do your dishes as you’ll still get the full effect of the witty humour and quirky characters.
